Driving around town, I can’t help but notice an increase in Amazon delivery trucks. It’s the holidays, and we’re all trying to save a few dollars while shopping for family, friends and coworkers. Still, as a small business owner, I recognize the importance of shopping with our fellow small and independent businesses.
One local business I’m excited to shop at this holiday season is Mary's Brigadeiro in Toronto. I discovered this amazing chocolatier when they appeared on CBC’s Dragons Den. Brigadeiros are a delicious chocolate that are extremely popular in Brazil. Mary's Brigadeiro is woman-lead and was founded by a newcomer to Canada.
Closer to home, there are so many fantastic locally-owned businesses to shop from this holiday season:
AURA-LA Pastries + Provisions (324 Frederick St, Kitchener)
Gifted Waterloo (740 Belmont Ave W, Kitchener)
Harp and Fin (722 Belmont Ave W, Kitchener)
KWFamous Holiday Pop-Up Shoppe (220 King St W, Kitchener)
The Culinary Studio (105 Lexington Rd Unit 19, Waterloo)
Looking beyond the holidays, we’re celebrating our tenth anniversary in 2024. It’s a good time to reflect on the relationships we’ve built and projects we’ve helped deliver over the last decade. I’m looking forward to sharing more starting in January.
Ten years is a long time for any business, and I thank you, our customers and partners, for helping make it happen.
Happy Holidays,
- Wes

Launching a new mobile app takes more than simply uploading files to an app store. You need great copy and graphics to grab your audience’s attention. Our head of design, Attila Schmidt, shares his top tips for app store optimization in his latest blog post.
We also have our first case study live on our website. Earlier this fall, one of our clients came to us with a challenge to migrate three sites to a new host. Sounds easy, but they needed it done in two months.
