Seeing behind the generative AI curtain

Sometimes, generative AI can feel like a serial mystery television show.
Every episode provides part of an answer to an overarching question and then adds ten new mysteries before the credits begin to roll. Generative AI tools like ChatGTP and Co-Pilot remind me of a season four episode of ABC’s LOST. It’s been a while, but in the episode, the show’s villain (or anti-hero, depending on your viewpoint) describes a box that can bring anything you think about to the mysterious island.
Like most of the series, there’s no explanation for how this works—which is very similar to generative AI. We write prompts and it gives us what we asked for, but we have very little insight into how that “magic” happens.
Last summer, we held an internal ChatGPT hackathon to dedicate time to seeing behind the generative AI curtain. Our team learned a great deal about prompts, how they’re structured, and how they influence a generative AI’s output.
We used those learnings to turn one of the hackathon projects into a real-world product—GhostWriter AI Pro. With a few screen taps, GhostWriter Pro AI will provide results that give more refined results without the need to write a complex prompt.
